Finally after 120 days of this second Lockdown, we here in Melbourne,we are free again, with lots of restrictions.

Zero Covid cases for 2 days so the term doughnut day evolved. Tomorrow shops and business especially Pubs, Cafes and Restaurants will re open.In 2 weeks we will be able to take a car ride into regional areas and stay.This is big... Still no interstate travel.

As for seeing the family we can gather outside, in a park so a family picnic is planned for the weekend. Let's hope by Christmas we can all gather around the table for our normal family celebrations.

Boredom Buster

Whilst in lockdown I have done a lot of knitting, tv watching, bits and pieces around the house, my blog, some photo challenges plus normal housework and 3 hours a day homeschooling(work). A daily walk, little essential shopping but as most of the time is at home, I have become idle and bored with the same routine and lack of stimulus,due to not seeing family and friends.Now my left arm/shoulder has begun to complain,so I have had to reduce the amount of knitting I do.  I decided to try something new and hopefully not too difficult, painting by numbers.There seems to be numerous to choose from and I didn't realise how finicky a paint job it would be. When the package arrived and I opened it up I thought it impossible, so many dots and areas of various sizes to fill with the paint supplied and the shades were aplenty also.When I begun I couldn't work out what I was painting and how it was coming together,not until I stepped away and looked at the work from afar, it made sense.

I enjoyed doing this one as a practice run, so I have bought another. Lockdown is slowly ending but I still have another painting to complete.

      The new stencil arrived just as I completed the Floral Arrangement, I have to iron the canvas out first.Maybe tomorrow.

Oreo Birthday Cake

This is very simple,adapted from the Ripple cake recipe. No cooking required.However it needs to be made at least 24 hours in advance.

All you require is 2 packets of Oreo biscuits and whipped cream. decorations as you see fit.

Place the biscuits on a serving plate, the way you want them.Spread with some of the whipped cream, keep making layers, alternating cream and biscuits until the cake is big enough or you run out of biscuits. Make sure sides are also covered with the cream.Place cake in fridge, covered with upside down mixing bowl for protection. Leave for at least 24 hours so biscuits soften into a cake like texture.

The cream will slighly dry out but when you remove from fridge just brush gently with a little milk before decorating.

A very simple but effective cake.

My Baby turns 30

Hazel-Jane Darie Mimino was born 30 years ago in Pt Moresby Hospital. It was a difficult pregnancy, which meant I spent the last 6 weeks in hospital trying not to go into labor. So important to finally have a girl, after the 3 boys. She was to be my little princess,always cherished and spoilt.I am immensely proud of the woman she has become and how determined and independent she is and love her to bits.
