When does a house become a home ?
Having lived in many houses since adulthood, this house is the one which I have been able to establish as my home. All the other places I lived in were rented and so modifications and updates were harder to do. This is our forever home and since buying it in 2009,we have gradually been able to renovate and turn the house into a comfortable home. When we moved in there were 5 young adults plus Greg and myself, so the house was very full. As with any move a few improvements have to be made initially to get the home suited to our needs.
Firstly we had to build fences to keep the dogs in, then we realised that the outside balcony needed to be made safe so fortunately we had a friend needing building type work. He rebuilt the whole balcony.
As the kids moved out we were able to get bedrooms painted and then other major works followed. The carpet finally got replaced along with plastering and new roof due to water getting in and a ceiling collapsing outside the kitchen. Also work on maintenance of windows and painting had to be done. Finally an upstairs bathroom was totally redone and just recently we finally got rid of the orange tiles in the kitchen. The kitchen reno being thNotice the splashback, being the highlight as we used photo of Greg's onto glass biggest project.
The outside yard will probably be the next project as the bamboo grows rampant up through the paving and is a continual hazard to us.
