Being an enthusiastic and diligent Brownie Guide, I had to learn to sew and Iron and cook. Fortunately for me I was interested and enjoyed these pursuits and had a excellent teacher at home most days, our beloved housekeeper, Miss Poynter. She spent hours patiently showing me the correct way to do the tasks required and later to enhance these crafts into other hobbies such as sewing clothes and cooking meals and making tapestries.I still enjoy all of these plus the kniting I do.
However time is the enemy.While teaching at Maffra,I did pursue a lot of tapestry as well as knitting as there was not much socialisation happening in the small community, although I made plenty of friends and met up with cousins that I didn't know existed.
